Our Mission Statement
Our Vision for the Future
The RAIHN Organization and Board of Directors is responsible
for:
- Fundraising:
Raising sufficient funds to manage the operation
annually including a director, a transportation van, operating the Day Center, and
expenses such as providing beds for the host churches. You can help! Go to our "Donations" page to learn more or send us an E-Mail and we'll
show you the many ways.
- Signing-up Hosting & Supporting Faith Organizations
Getting a core contingent
of faith communities on-board to act as hosts or
support groups. Currently, the RAIHN organization
has signed-up quite a few faith communities as hosts
as well as support congregations.
Click HERE to see the latest list of these faith communities. If you
are representing an organization that is thinking of participating at some level
in the RAIHN project, just give us a call or send an e-mail.
- Overall, the RAIHN organization has some daily,
weekly, monthly operational responsibilities that are outlined HERE.
letter that was sent to the voting Vestry committee at one of the faith communities
(St. Paul's Episcopal Church). This letter was used to set-the-stage with the decision-makers
within that organization. Feel free to excerpt any of this information for your own
organization's use.
That same faith community also had to vote on participating
in the RAIHN program. Further information including some photos from the National
IHN video tapes was put into a Powerpoint presentation; again explaining the National
IHN organization as well as the RAIHN organization and the individual responsibilities
of the hosting faith community, the chosen coordinator(s) and the volunteers.
You can view
this presentation online or can download
it HERE.
The RAIHN Organization is chartered with building
a quality organization in the Rochester NY area to serve a need to provide overnight
accommodations to temporarily FAMILIES.

The vision for the RAIHN Rochester Area Interfaith
Hospitality Network is to raise funds sufficient to run this much-needed program
on an annual basis in the Rochester area. Our goals include:
- To keep homeless families together
during the crisis of homelessness.
- To provide family members a secure
and loving haven.
- To enable family members to maintain
their routines as much as possible, promoting a sense of wellness.
- To reinstate families in permanent,
safe housing.
- To provide dignity as well as service.
Our RAIHN
network employs a Director who manages
the program and works intensively with the families as they seek housing, jobs and
other resources.
Our vision includes the sign-up of an ongoing basis of thirteen or more Participating congregations . They furnish sleeping accommodations and a "hospitality
room" where guests relax, socialize, do homework, or watch television. Guests
arrive at the host congregation at 5:30 pm and remain overnight. The host congregation
provides the evening meal, breakfast, and a bag lunch. In the morning, guests return
to the day center.
